Nuclear Reactors

 

Nuclear fuel is used in nuclear reactors to derive nuclear energy. The most common type of nuclear fuel is fissile elements that can be made to undergo nuclear fission chain reactions in a nuclear reactor.
These structures have heavy thick walls which are prestressed and are meant to prevent radioactive emission.
FPCC has involved in the post tensioning of many Nuclear reactors in India. The first reactor was prestressed by FPCC and since then FPCC has carried out post tensioning of ten reactors.
The typical post tensioning work of nuclear reactor involved installation of semi circle cable, vertical cable and "J" shape cables.
PT work are more complex and delicate compared to other structures & has more importance in such structures.
All the nuclear reactors in India have been prestressed by FPCC.
